Phil Impressively Qualifies Third At Speedweek Show
A Solid Run Ends With Motor Problems & A 21st Place finish

With Selinsgrove Speedway taking a break from racing action for two weeks, close friend Adam Romig made the possibility of Phil running a 410 sprint car in the 2008 Speedweek finale, a reality. Phil's team helped put together a fast sprint car to try their luck against the best 410 drivers in the east coast at the snyder county oval on July 5th.
Phil was among the early qualifiers in time trials and used his experience around the big half mile to pull off the third fastest time among twenty eight entries. The race surface was far from it's usual condition that Phil is used to on a normal Friday evening forcing the high flyer to run the bottom to the middle of the track through the turns. At times he tried his normal top side runs to see if any bite was up at the top where he likes to run, but to on avail.
After qualifying through his heat, and the invert for the 30 lap A-main, Phil was set to start fourth, giving him a front row spot in the famous, "four abreast parade lap". Thousands of fans in the stands were cheering the high flyer on as he brought the Adam Romig owned number 1 sprint car down the frontstretch surrounded by the great sprint car drivers of Keith Kauffman, Sean Micheal & Greg Hodnett. You knew by the cheers that most of the fans on hand were routing for the local 358 driver.  Phil ran with the top pack of cars for the first half of the race before falling back due to what looked like an ill handling racecar. Eventually, Phil was forced to withdrawl from the event with motor problems.

This was another case of bad luck for the team. The team has been dealing with bad luck so far this season but we will keep working to solve the mystery of the track surface that has many teams baffled this year. The team will be back in competition on Saturday July 19th for the URC/358 Challenge race at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Please be sure to check out our selection of T-Shirts and hats at our trailer on Saturday night.  Thanks to our fans for your continued support.

The Racing Phil's

Once again this season, we will be competing regularly every Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in 2008, while Phil II will be competing each and every Friday night at SRP.

Hopefully we can build on our only win in the Sprint car at Selinsgrove in 2007, which came in the final race of the season, and take that momentum into this season with a hard charge for my first ever track championship at the Snyder County oval.

Win or lose, we have a great bunch of guys, some  fantastic sponsors, and we look to have a lot of fun again in 2008. I would like to thank you, the fans for your support of myself and Phil II in our racing careers. See you at the races and thanks again for being great fans.

Don't forget to check out the Phil Walter II page on this website.  The youngster had a good rookie season in 2006 and followed that up with a great sophomore season in 2007 by finishing second in the year end point standings.

If you have a Friday evening free, check out the racing at SRP.  It's the foundation and the future of motorsports and a great way to spend time with your kids.
